LOCAL EDUCATION AGENCY PLAN

The District submitted a plan to the California Department of Education stating the goals and objectives of the District to be in compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act.  The Local Education Agency Plan (LEAP) was approved by the Board of Trustees in March 2005 and will be rewritten in 2008-2009 by Educational Services, the District Advisory Committee (DAC) and the District English Language Advisory Committee (DELAC.)

SINGLE PLAN FOR STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

The Single Plan for Student Achievement is the state mandated school site plan that references all school site goals for each sub-group of students in the school.  To meet the expected growth on the Academic Performance Index (API) each sub-group must improve by 5% of the previous year’s achievement.  The Single Plan for Student Achievement is the road map to determine the educational pathways for students to make that growth.  The plan is developed and approved by the School Site Councils and then is read and approved by the District Advisory Committee before the Board of Trustees reads and approves the documents.  All expenditures out of state and federal sources should be driven by the goals and objectives from this plan.  Compliance for the school site will be determined by student achievement goals identified in the plan.

Categorical Program Monitoring (CPM)

The Categorical Program Monitoring (CPM) process, formerly called Coordinated Compliance Review (CCR), is done every 4 years to monitor compliance with all state and federal programs the District operates.  Year four is the self-study year and year five is the visitation year.  Members of the California Department of Education staff responsible for program compliance spend one to two days randomly checking the site and district programs for compliance.  The Single Plan for Student Achievement and the Local Education Agency Plan are the cornerstones of the compliance review, but it will also review Title IX and Uniform Complaint Issues.

WESTERN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES

The accreditation process used by Atascadero High School and Del Rio Continuation High School is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC.)  This process also has one year of self-study and one visitation from a team of teachers and administrators from the WASC organization.  At the end of the visitation process, the schools receive various levels of accreditation based upon the quality of their self-study and the information learned by the visitation team.  In 2006, Atascadero High School received a 6-year accreditation. In 2007, Del Rio Continuation High School received a three year accreditation. Also, in 2007, West Mall Alternative School received its first accreditation for three years.
