Q: How do I enroll my child into school?
A: Parents/guardians must call or go to the school site directly, and the Secretary will assist them. Or they can enroll online through Aeries at the link below. If the schools are on winter/spring break, parents/guardians must wait until school resumes.
Exception: During the summer months (late June - early August), parents/guardians may go to the District Office and use the internet connected computer in the lobby to do online enrollment in the lobby. For further details, please contact your zoned school or the District Office.
Q: How can I enroll an international student or foreign exchange student?
A: An intra-district transfer form is used when you want to remain the Atascadero District, but you want your child to switch to a different school. An inter-district transfer form is used when you want to move your child to another school district other than the one you belong to.
Q: Where may I obtain an interdistrict transfer form?
A: Contact the District receptionist at 805-462-4200, stop by the Atascadero Unified School District Office at 5601 West Mall, Atascadero, CA 93422, or download the form from the box on the left.
Q: How are interdistrict and intradistrict application approved or denied?
A: Each application packet lists the reasons an application would be approved or denied and how to appeal a decision if needed.
Q: When will the district begin accepting and processing interdistrict applications for the following year?
A: Transfer requests can be submitted commencing May 1st of the preceding school year for which the transfer is requested.
Q: When is a school at capacity, and can not accept interdistrict transfers?
A: Classes at the relevant grade levels are deemed to be full for purposes of Interdistrict and Intradistrict transfers when the classes reach an average of 18 for Transitional Kindergarten, 24 for Kindergarten, and 30 for grades 1-6. For grades 7-12, capacity shall be 95% of teachers' capacity based on required courses. These numbers have been determined to insure room for resident students and to ensure contractual limits are not exceeded.
